How to Use
It is important to follow your doctorÂ?s instructions. Take Ultracet
by mouth with food or milk to avoid stomach upset.
Possible Side Effects
Ultracet is generally well-tolerated, however side effects may occur. Talk
to your doctor if any of the following side effects become bothersome: drowsiness,
dizziness, stomach upset, confusion, constipation, dry mouth, increase in
bowel movements, loose stools, nausea, muscle pain or weakness, soft stools,
trouble sleeping, vomiting. Other side effects may occur that aren't listed
here. Talk to your health care provider if you experience any unwanted side
effects that don't go away.
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to tramadol,
opioid analgesics or acetaminophen. Tell your doctor if you have any of
the following medical problems: History of alcohol or drug abuse or Seizures
Head injury Hormonal problems Infections of the central nervous system Kidney
or liver disease trouble breathing or Severe abdominal pain Ultracet can
cause dizziness or drowsiness. Alcoholic beverages can increase the effects
of Ultracet and should be avoided. Before having any kind of surgery (including
dental surgery) tell your healthcare provider that you are taking Ultracet.
do NOT abruptly stop Ultracet without talking to your doctor. Your doctor
may want to gradually reduce the amount that you are taking to reduce any
withdrawal effects. Ultracet may be habit-forming. Physical dependence may
lead to withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking the medicine.
Drug Interactions
When taking Ultracet, it is important that you tell your doctor if you are
on the following medications: Anticoagulants (warfarin; Coumadin) Alcohol
Acetaminophen-containing products Analgesics (pain-relievers) Antidepressants
(e.g. amitriptyline (Elavil); SSRI's e.g. citalopram (Celexa)) Anesthetics
Central nervous system (CNS) depressants (e.g. Codeine) sedative hypnotics
(e.g. Valium; Xanax) MAO inhibitors (e.g. Marplan) Carbamazepine (e.g. Tegretol)

Missed Dose
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next
dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not
double doses.
Storage
Keep Ultracet in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach
of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and
moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated
or no longer needed.
